The top cover of the car lifts off to give easy access to the driver and the crucial controls.
The controls include a Trip Computer (which tells the Speed, Revs, Lap times etc), a Starter Switch, Ignition Switch, Throttle, Brakes and Emergency Stop Buttons.
The Driver is also linked to a two-way radio system, which he uses to communicate with the team while on the track. Fuel is measured by the Shell Fuel technicians and temperature reading taken and logged before the eco car is allowed on the track. A remote transponder, fitted in the car provides accurate information to the Shell organisers.
The Eco Car is also scrutinised for all the safety checks including braking, Roll bar, emergency stop buttons, rear view mirrors, safety belts, steering and other controls
